StockholmSubwaystoRy #5 – Rådhuset
Stockholm Subway with stoRy touRs
Rådhuset is a station in the Stockholm subway system serving the blue line. It was opened in 1975 and is situated in the Kungsholmen neighborhood.
The name of the station means the Court House in Swedish, as a references to the actual Stockholm’s Court House placed right above the station’s cave.
The artistic decorations were made by Sigvard Olsson and they remind the traveler of an excavation site. Actually, many of the objects decorating the cave were found in the area while excavating for constructing the subway.
Here is also one of the most popular views in the subway system in Stockholm, namely a getaway originally from 17th century, through which the subway comes from the other stations.
If you are at Rådhuset you may want to pay attention to the unique shade of color. This exact shape was hardly optained and is a reference to a similar shape to be found in the Atlas Mountains.
