Stockholm – the best views – Part 1

Stockholm guide | Sztokholm praktycznie | Things to do in Stockholm

We truly believe that Stockholm is fantastic all year round. So, here we make a short list of our favorite places in town where you can get the best views of the city. Here we go!

Monteliusvägen

One of our favorite views in town is in Södermalm. You can reach Monteliusvägen by getting off at Slussen subway station. Also, you can come to Söder Mälarstrand by using the public ferry and then climb the stairs to reach the top of the hill.

Here you can get one of the best panoramic views over the Stockholm’s skyline (photo above). You’ll overlook the central part of the city, seeing the Old Town in all its beauty, the City Hall, the lake Mälaren meeting the Baltic Sea and all the way to Kungsholmen, in the left part. This place is very popular all year round, but especially in the summer time, when people even come to have the lunch break in the near-by Ivar Los park.

Skinnarviksberget

This spot is only a 10 minutes walk away from Monteliusvägen towards western part of Södermalm. Or, you can take the subway to Zinkensdamm, using the red line.

Here, again, you’ll see one popular spot in the city, especially for the locals. When the weather is nice enough, you’ll be surprised to see people having lunch on the cliffs and overlooking the lake Mälaren and Kungsholmen (picture below). This is also a popular spot where you can celebrate the New Year’s Eve in the open in Stockholm! Many people gather around here right before midnight. Nevertheless, if you want to wonder around a bit off the beaten track during the summer, visit this spot and the wonderful houses on the streets nearby. Totally worth it!

Fjällgatan

Finally, our last tip for today is also situated in Södermalm, but this time on the eastern part of the island. Fjällgatan is very popular among tourists and you can even visit it during our tours! If you will visit it on your own, you can reach this spot by taking the bus number 53 to Ersta sjukhus and have a short walk, or you can even walk all the way from Slussen for about 12 minutes.

Comparing to the previous two spots, this view will offer you a different angle of the city’s skyline. Here you’ll overlook the Baltic Sea and the islands of Skeppsholmen and Djurgården. Still, on the left side, you’ll see another part of the Old Town. Among others sights, you’ll get to see Fotografiska or the Gröna Lund amusement park. Make the most of it and visit one of the coffee spots nearby and relax while enjoying the spectacular view!

You can already go out there and enjoy these views, even if it’s snowing or if the sun is shining bright! We’ll get back to this topic and present you even more places where you can see breathtaking views of Stockholm.
